How can I compare the different Health, Safety and Environmental Qualifications?

There are so many different Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) qualifications and professional memberships in the UK that even people working in the profession can get confused!

The most common HSE qualifications are graded according to the level of depth of knowledge they represent. Generally speaking, Level 1 to 2 qualifications (such as IOSH Working or Managing Safely) help people understand their responsibilities in the workplace. Level 3 qualifications are aimed at managers, supervisors and employee representatives who require the knowledge in order to carry out their Health and Safety duties more effectively. And Level 4 to 6 qualifications are designed for people seeking a professional career in Health and Safety.

Please note that in Health and Safety, relevant experience can be just as important as qualifications, and there are some very experienced and able HS&E professionals in the industry who hold very few qualifications at all!
